Ruby Hicks spent over 20 years in Dansbury Commons at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Last week, Hicks waved goodbye to her campus family as she celebrated her retirement from ESU\u2019s contracted food service vendor, Aramark.<\/p>\n
The campus community joined in Hicks\u2019s celebration at her retirement party on Thursday, March 5. Hicks was greeted with a four-tiered cake, and co-workers and friends grabbed a sharpie and covered her chef coat with their signatures.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe is the kind of person who everyone wants know but not everyone gets the opportunity to know,\u201d Nancy Weaver, Ph.D., assistant to the vice president of student affairs, said.<\/p>\n
Over the years Dansbury Commons adopted Hicks\u2019s recipes, especially on soul food nights, according to Dr. Weaver. \u201cShe was a very dedicated, loyal employee and we all wish her the best in the next step of her life,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
