{"id":12550,"date":"2015-07-13T16:08:09","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T20:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=12550"},"modified":"2015-08-07T13:11:47","modified_gmt":"2015-08-07T17:11:47","slug":"esu-hosts-6th-relay-for-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/esu-hosts-6th-relay-for-life\/","title":{"rendered":"ESU Becomes Relay for Life Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Relay-for-Life.jpg\" alt=\"ESU Hosts 6th Relay for Life\" class=\"newshide\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 900px;\" \/><br \/>\n<em>East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania hosted its sixth Relay for Life in June and officially became a Relay for Life campus this month.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The university has been so great to the American Cancer Society and our community,\u201d Lisa Hoey, American Cancer Society representative, said. \u201cIt was a designated campus the first time we walked the track in honor and in memory of cancer patients. <\/p>\n<p>We wanted to present them with the sign to display because we want to make sure the community is aware that the university is a very big part in making a difference and helping to find a cure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ESU\u2019s Office of Residence Life has had a staff team in the American Cancer Society&#8217;s Relay for Life since its beginning in Monroe County over 25 years ago. They are frequently a top fundraising team. <\/p>\n<p>This year the team raised $18,139.19, and Bob Moses, director of Residence Life, was the top individual fundraiser bringing in almost $9,000. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will continue to relay until, hopefully, one day we will no longer need to\u2026until a cure for cancer is discovered,&#8221; Moses said. <\/p>\n<p>This year, $133,500 was raised.
