East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking consignments of fine, folk and self-taught art, as well as antiques, jewelry and other items of value, for a fundraising auction to benefit the university\u2019s Sterling Strauser Gallery. Material Culture, a nationally renowned auction house with over three decades of experience in the fields of art, antiques and collectibles from around the world, will provide auction services for this initiative. They will accept consignments for the event through Friday, September 4, 2015. As an added incentive, Material Culture is waiving any seller\u2019s commission to those who submit items for consignment in this auction. A minimum of 20% of the final sale price of each auction item will be donated to the Sterling Strauser Gallery at ESU. Consigners have the option to donate up to 100% of the sale price to the Gallery.<\/p>\n

Conveniently, the live auction will occur online on Monday, October 12, at 10 a.m. (EST). For those who wish to preview the auction items in advance, an exhibition of all pieces will be held on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Material Culture, located at 4700 Wissahickon Avenue in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe online auction will be made available to more than 28,000 of art enthusiasts worldwide,\u201d said Bob Moses, director of residence life and chair of ESU\u2019s Sterling Strauser Gallery Committee. \u201cWe are hoping that there is plenty of local and regional participation in the auction simply because we count on the help from private collectors and owners to sustain the Strauser Gallery and to also help us to raise funds for art scholarships at ESU.\u201d<\/p>\n

Photographs<\/strong>: An easy first step is to email expert@materialculture.com<\/a>\u00a0or mail photographs to Material Culture. Please include any information regarding the dimensions, condition or markings, media, and provenance, which are often important factors in determining the object\u2019s value. This will help them to make an assessment, though estimate may change on first-hand examination.<\/p>\n

Call:<\/strong> If preferred, art owners may call (215) 438\u20134700 to discuss the details of the objects for sale. Please explain to the receptionist that you have an item you would like to sell at auction, and you will be forwarded to the appropriate specialist.<\/p>\n
