{"id":1280,"date":"2011-08-05T08:06:23","date_gmt":"2011-08-05T13:06:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www4.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=1280"},"modified":"2011-08-05T08:06:23","modified_gmt":"2011-08-05T13:06:23","slug":"weekly-construction-update-42","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/weekly-construction-update-42\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Construction Update (42)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following is the expected site construction activity for the week of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">August 8, 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Building &#8216;A&#8217; \u2013 98% of the masonry work is complete on all facades for Building \u2018A\u2019, and the one story main lounge area in the court yard will be completed this week. Installation of the elevators,\u00a0hardy board,\u00a0aluminum\u00a0fascia, soffits and gutters\u00a0is on-going.\u00a0 The\u00a0liquid self-leveling floor compound, poured to approximately \u00be\u201d in thickness is 90% complete on all floors with the exception of the end units and breezeway areas as these areas serve as staging areas for deliveries and discarding of debris.\u00a0 Installation of hollow metal door and interior suite wood door frames &amp; doors and kitchenette and lavatory cabinets and countertops are currently in the process of installation.\u00a0Gypsum wall board installation is approximately 95% complete and\u00a0first coat of finish paint application on walls has begun.<\/li>\n<li>Work on the retaining wall along Smith Street\u00a0for the University Police entrance into the Lower Level of Building \u2018A\u2019 is complete and work in Smith Street for the new raised crosswalk and utility connections, and concrete curbing and sidewalk is progressing well. Smith Street is scheduled to re-open on Monday, 8 August 2011.\u00a0 Site improvements along Normal Street for concrete curbing, sidewalks and finish grading is progressing well and in anticipation of road repairs and parking space striping to be completed the following week.<\/li>\n<li>Building &#8216;B&#8217; \u2013\u00a0Installation of masonry on all exterior facades is on-going as well as installation of gypsum wall board on interior walls.\u00a0 Installation of hardy board and aluminum fascia, soffit and gutters is expected to begin this week on the west fa\u00e7ade above the fitness center.\u00a0Installation of gypsum wall board is 90% complete on all floors above the west wing Fitness Center, as well as the liquid self-leveling floor compound, poured to approximately \u00be\u201d in thickness is 90% complete on the first and second floors, and the third floor will be completed mid-week. Hollow metal and interior suite wood door frames &amp; doors installation has begun and will continue.<\/li>\n<li>Work is progressing well for the Basin 1A, infiltration system and new 117 car parking lot adjacent to Lenape and Hawthorn Residence Halls.\u00a0Installation of the underground Infiltration system components has begun and will continue until the scheduled completion date of 7 November 2011.<\/li>\n<li>Work delayed to remove existing old steam pipe from outside the perimeters of Basin 1A infiltration system is scheduled to begin this week. Affected area is north of Isabelle Street and Dansbury Commons and the asphalt walk-way north of this area will be temporarily closed. Installation of construction fences and erosion control measures will be installed early this week for pedestrian safety and excavation to begin for this work.<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Fire Sprinkler rough-ins for Building \u2018A\u2019 are 99% complete and 85% complete for Building \u2018B\u2019. Work continues throughout both buildings for MEP and fire sprinkler work, exterior wall insulation as well as sound-batt insulation between suites and floors. Work to install the electrical switch gear for permanent electrical service to Building \u2018A\u2019 is complete and has begun for Building \u2018B\u2019. MEP work in the lower levels for the Police Station and Fitness Center is continuing.<\/li>\n<li>Estimates to restore the Lenape parking lot and Hemlock parking lot have been received and in the process of review. Work will be scheduled as soon as approval is granted and be completed by the week of 22 August 2011.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As a reminder, following is the expected impact around this construction activity:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Noise<\/span>.\u00a0During this period, construction activity around the sites will generate noise . This activity will continue until 19 August 2011. University Approved Construction Vehicle warm-up begins at 6:30 AM and Construction Activity will start at 7:00 AM.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Parking<\/span>.\u00a0Parking has been affected in the Lenape parking lot due to excavation work between\u00a0Building &#8216;A and Hemlock Hall.\u00a0\u00a0The Hawthorn Parking Lot will also remain closed indefinitely for the Basin 1A, infiltration system site work.\u00a0Isabelle Street has temporarily become a \u2018dead-end\u2019 street but continues to provide access into Hawthorn Hall, Flager-Metzgar Center, and the DGS Building, including the Facilities Management Annex.\u00a0All pedestrian sidewalks around Hawthorn remain in service.<\/li>\n<ol style=\"list-style: none;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOTICE:<\/span>\u00a0Smith Street will remain closed between the intersection of Smith and Normal Streets and the Lenape parking lot through 8 August 2011. Extensive work includes re-aligning the south, raised concrete crosswalk with Building \u2018A\u2019 breezeway, adjusting the steep slope of the north, raised concrete crosswalk and storm water catch basin, underground storm water connections to the east side of Smith Street, and concrete curb and sidewalks along Smith Street.\u00a0All agencies have been notified and including the Borough of East Stroudsburg, Monroe County Dispatch Control Center and Transportation Authority, Pocono Medical Center and local Police and Fire Authorities for this 2-week period of Smith Street closure.The temporary traffic pattern is East on Normal St., North on Marguerite St. and West on Spangenburg St..\u00a0Access is open only to local traffic to residences north of Kemp Library on Smith St..<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Safety<\/span>. You are reminded to stay outside the construction fence and remain alert to slow moving construction vehicles exiting and entering the site. \u00a0Please observe all construction rerouting signs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following is the expected site construction activity for the week of August 8, 2011.
