We\u2019re simply talking turkey here. Students involved in East Stroudsburg University\u2019s Greek Organizations remain committed to helping the Salvation Army of Monroe County by raising funds to purchase turkeys that will be distributed to families in need for Thanksgiving. Salvation Army staff and volunteers reached out to ESU students for help when they discovered that the price of turkeys this year skyrocketed far beyond prices in years past.<\/p>\n

\u201cProject Turkey\u201d is well underway with a goal to raise $7,500. ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D.\u00a0thanked members of student volunteers from Alpha Sigma Tau, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Lambda Iota, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Chi, Theta Chi, Kappa Delta Rho, Phi Sigma Kappa, and Sigma Pi at the Salvation Army\u2019s Fall Festival held on Thursday, October 8 at Stroudsmoor Country Inn. The students raised $1,300 in their efforts during the evening\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n
John Lang, a junior majoring in biology from Livingston, N.J.,\u00a0performed during Fall Fest in East Stroudsburg on Sunday, October 11. John and fellow ESU students brought recognition to \u201cProject Turkey,\u201d which will end on November 16.\u00a0To date, the students have raised more than one-third of their goal ($2,800) for this cause and hope to continue with a live GoFundMe account where individuals may make donations (https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/ja55s5zw<\/a>), and an Anti-Talent Show on Wednesday, October 21 from 7- 9 p.m. in Abeloff Center for Performing Arts. The event is open to the general public. Tickets are $2 per person and may be purchased at the door. Proceeds will also benefit \u201cProject Turkey.\u201d<\/p>\n
