They found an opportunity in running for homecoming king and queen. Candidates were required to fundraise for a charity, create a video or write an essay, and speak about their involvement on campus. This year\u2019s candidates raised more than $5,000 for charities of their choice, including Salvation Army, Alex\u2019s Lemonade Stand, and American Cancer Society.<\/p>\n<p>Katie Reardon, a senior majoring in English from Rockaway, N.J., was crowned homecoming queen last week. Reardon raised $1,550 for Project Turkey, the Greek organizations\u2019 initiative where money is donated to the Salvation Army in order to provide families in Monroe County with a Thanksgiving meal this November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI ran for homecoming queen hoping to give back to the university and community that has done so much for me,\u201d Reardon said. \u201cI am honored to be this year\u2019s homecoming queen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luis Feliciano, a senior majoring in theatre from Philadelphia, Pa., was crowned homecoming king.
