At the Disco will be taking over East Stroudsburg University\u2019s Mattioli Recreation Center on April 21 at 8 p.m. as the university\u2019s spring concert. Doors open at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents love live music,\u201d Ian Brown, a sophomore majoring in communication studies from Holmes, Pa., and concert chair for the Campus Activities Board (CAB), said. \u201cIt draws attention to campus.\u201d Members of CAB, a student organization that focuses on campus life activities, surveyed students last semester to narrow down the concert choices for the spring semester. About 900 students participated in the survey that led to the selection.<\/p>\n<p>The opening act is DJ Reed Streets, a Philadelphia-based artist who mixes some of today\u2019s best alternative with classic tones to warm up the crowd and Secret Weapons, an alternative rock band.<br \/>\nOriginally from Las Vegas, childhood friends Spencer Smith and Ryan Ross formed Panic! At the Disco when they were in high school. The band stepped on the alternative music scene on September 27, 2005, with the debut of their first album, A Fever You Can\u2019t Sweat Out. Combining electronic punk waves with soothing orchestrated tones was deemed a success as the album went platinum by March of the following year. Later that year, Panic! went on to win an MTV Video Music Award for their single \u201cI Write Sins Not Tragedies,\u201d due to its domination on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, personal choices and new career opportunities left Brendon Urie as the only original member in the band.<\/p>\n<p>Urie, the original lead singer, announced he would be releasing his fifth studio album under the band\u2019s name. Death of a Bachelor was released January 15, 2016, with singles \u201cHallelujah,\u201d \u201cEmperor\u2019s New Clothes,\u201d and \u201cVictorious\u201d taking over the charts.<\/p>\n<p>ESU students may purchase discounted tickets beginning February 22. Discounted tickets are $20 each and are limited to two per student.
