{"id":15573,"date":"2017-04-05T12:00:56","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T16:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=15573"},"modified":"2017-04-07T11:48:41","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T15:48:41","slug":"winners-of-student-art-association-annual-juried-student-art-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/winners-of-student-art-association-annual-juried-student-art-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners of Student Art Association Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Photo Caption: <\/em><em>From left: \u00a0Karen Mitchell Raptakis, Stephen Washington (juror) Devin Kagel, Kevin Wimmer, Alyssa Gonzales, Laura Hatch, Sean Smith and Dr. Marcia Welsh (juror) <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prizes were awarded recently to the top artists in the East Stroudsburg University Student Art Association Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition.<\/p>\n<p><em>Gavel for Ruth Bader Ginsberg<\/em>, a 3-D printed work by Alyssa Gonzalez, a sophomore from Allentown, Pa. majoring in art + design, earned the \u201cbest in show\u201d award and also the prize for the best three-dimensional piece in the exhibit.<\/p>\n<p>First prize was awarded to <em>Dimples<\/em>, an acrylic painting by Devin Kagel, a freshman from Saylorsburg, Pa. majoring in integrated art + design.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Wimmer, a freshman from Saylorsburg, Pa., majoring in art + design, earned second place for <em>Patchwork<\/em>, a work in glass.\u00a0 Wimmer\u2019s<em> Ascend,<\/em> a laser-cut cardboard and acrylic paint work, earned an honorable mention.<\/p>\n<p>Third prize was awarded to <em>Madonna and Revenge of the Storm Pooper<\/em>, a 3-D printed piece by Sean Smith, a junior from Effort, Pa. majoring in integrated art + design.<\/p>\n<p>Honorable mentions were also awarded to: Karen Raptakis, a senior majoring in art + design from East Stroudsburg, Pa., for her mixed media piece, <em>Landscape<\/em>; Laura Hatch, a sophomore from East Stroudsburg, Pa., majoring in psychology, for her ink and water color work, <em>Broken<\/em>; and Arianna Kessler, a sophomore from Frackville, Pa., majoring in psychology, for an untitled drawing.<\/p>\n<p>Pocono artist Stephen Washington, who has worked in graphic design, photography and painting, and ESU President Marcia G.
