Tickets are now on sale for East Stroudsburg University\u2019s\u00a0annual Zoot Fest, an evening\u00a0of jazz music honoring jazz legends Al Cohn and Zoot Sims.<\/p>\n
Zoot Fest will take place\u00a0Thursday,\u00a0March\u00a029, 2018 beginning at 7 p.m. in the\u00a0Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall, Fine and Performing Arts Center\u00a0on ESU\u2019s campus.<\/p>\n
At 7 p.m. there will be a tribute to Al and Zoot\u00a0featuring NEA Jazz Master\u00a0David\u00a0Liebman (tenor saxophone), Vincent Herring (alto saxophone), and an all-star local rhythm section: Dave\u00a0Leonhardt (piano),\u00a0Paul Rostock (bass), and Bill Goodwin (drums).<\/p>\n
At 8 p.m.\u00a0the saxophone section of the Water Gap Jazz Orchestra will feature music from the Benny Carter recording \u201cFurther Definitions,\u201d which was donated to the Al Cohn Memorial Jazz Collection (ACMJC) by the late Phil Woods, who played on the original recording. The saxophone section is\u00a0Nelson Hill, Neil Wetzel, Dave\u00a0Demsey, Craig\u00a0Yaremko, and Jay\u00a0Rattman, all joined by the rhythm section.<\/p>\n
The evening will conclude with a Jam Session starting at 9 p.m. at the Deer Head Inn located at 5 Main Street, Delaware Water Gap, Pa.<\/p>\n
Admission to Zoot Fest is $30 for the general public and $10 for students. There is no charge for the Jam Session.
