The East Stroudsburg University\u2019s Provost\u2019s Colloquium Series continues with a presentation by Jen Harrison, instructor of English. The presentation \u201cChildren\u2019s Literature in State System Higher Education\u201d will take place in Beers Lecture Hall on Wednesday, October 24 at from 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Jen Harrison, writer\/editor of The Worrisome Words Blog, will discuss the increasingly important role played by children\u2019s literature and childhood studies within state-system higher education. Childhood studies is a field of growing importance and popularity in higher education, offering unparalleled scope for both interdisciplinary research and engaging pedagogy. The talk will pull together a variety of perspectives from guest posts shared on her blog from educators in several PASSHE schools. Multidisciplinary in focus, the presentation will feature not only the perspectives of those working in the English, education, and library studies fields, but also the wider implications of the field for disciplines such as sociology, criminology, psychology, art, politics, and the STEM fields.<\/p>\n
As well as pulling together and analyzing the range of perspectives shared on the blog, the talk will also discuss the current scope of childhood studies in the PASSHE system and in higher education in general, highlighting current trends and speculating about future progressions.<\/p>\n
