Cohen Recital Hall of the university\u2019s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite Streets, East Stroudsburg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis semester we are a doing a mix of repertoire,\u201d explained Matt Vashlishan, D.M.A., coordinator of the Al Cohn Memorial Jazz Collection and director of the Ensemble. \u201cWe are playing a few selections from the Count Basie Band, all the way to \u201cI.G.Y.\u201d by Steely Dan\u2019s Donald Fagan, as well as \u201cNutville\u201d by Horace Silver, arranged in the style of the famous Buddy Rich big band version.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saxophonist C.J. Magann, a sophomore from Tannersville, Pa. majoring in art + design who has been a member of the Ensemble for two years, described the program as \u201cpretty fun. The \u201970s and \u201980s selections are very groovy and laid back, and the Count Basie pieces are very distinct from the others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The concert, sponsored by the Department of Theatre, is open to the public at no cost.
