The Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) announced it would continue accreditation for the graduate communication sciences and disorders program at East Stroudsburg University. The CAA\u2019s decisions of the accreditation status of graduate education programs in audiology and speech-language pathology are based on compliance with current standards\u2014addressing administrative structure and governance, faculty, academic and clinical curriculum, students, assessment, and program resources. The CAA\u2019s accreditation is sought voluntarily by education programs that offer clinical doctoral degrees in audiology or master\u2019s degrees in speech-language pathology designed for graduates entering the professions. The CAA applies accreditation status classifications to each program that reflect CAA\u2019s evaluation of the extent to which an education program complies with the Standards for Accreditation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) is recognized as an accrediting agency for speech-language pathology programs by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education,\u201d explained LuAnn Batson-Magnuson, Ph.D., associate professor and graduate coordinator for the department of communication sciences and disorders. \u201cCAA accreditation provides external validation of program excellence providing employers with confidence in the graduates that they hire.\u201d<\/p>\n
ESU\u2019s Master of Science education program in communication sciences and disorders is now accredited through April 30, 2029.<\/p>\n
The CAA found the program to meet or exceed the established CAA expectations in each of the areas reviewed: administrative structure, faculty, curriculum, student performance (program completion rates, employment rates, and Praxis examination rates), assessment and program resources.<\/p>\n
