The presentation \u201cThe Endless Benefits of Clean and Abundant Water in the Brodhead Watershed\u201d will take place on Wednesday, March 23, at 5:30 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall. The presentation will also be live streamed on the ESU <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esu.edu\/live-events\/index.cfm\">Live Events webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Clean and abundant water in Monroe County supplies the majority of residents with drinking water on a daily basis. Between wells, and public water &#8211; much comes from the Brodhead Creek watershed.\u00a0Beyond the basic life sustaining functions of water, there\u2019s an elaborate web of ecosystem services that stem from the protection of clean and abundant water.<\/p>\n<p>This presentation will focus on the history of water quality, implemented changes, and how local citizen scientists have been involved in monitoring, improving and educating neighbors about the importance of clean and abundant water. Jackson will highlight the ecosystem services provided by protecting clean waterways and forested landscape, plus future directions that include tackling the challenges of increased urbanization, climate change, and invasive species.
