East Stroudsburg University will host the second Do it for the Culture Diversity Conference for the campus community on April 18-21. This year\u2019s conference is sponsored by ESU\u2019s Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education, the Gender and Sexuality Center, and the Student Government Association diversity and inclusion subcommittee.<\/p>\n
The conference, intended for students, faculty and staff of the university, will open its doors to the public for the keynote address on Thursday, April 21 at 6 p.m. The keynote address will be delivered by Justin Brown.<\/p>\n
Brown is a well-known author, speaker and diversity instructor in the field of education. He is the director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Downingtown Area School District. Prior to his work with the school district he has worked in student affairs at West Chester University in West Chester, Pa. Brown\u2019s passion for working with students developed while pursuing a bachelor\u2019s degree in public relations from Slippery Rock University. During that time he was actively involved working to collaborate with various offices and departments on campus. It was during this time that Brown created the Diversity Awareness Program (D.A.P), a program dedicated to raising awareness and educating institutions about the importance of diversity, and the embracing of all cultures and backgrounds. Justin continued to nurture D.A.P through his graduate studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a master\u2019s degree in student affairs in higher education. Brown grew up in Chester County and now resides there with his wife and two children.<\/p>\n
