Prizes were recently awarded to the top artists in the East Stroudsburg University Art Association All University Juried Student Art Exhibition.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Charlotte Hiriart, a senior exchange student from Argentina majoring in Theatre Arts, received the first prize for her graphite drawing, \u201cOccupy Love.\u201d<\/p>\n
The second place prize went to senior art and design major Bethany Wert of\u00a0 Stroudsburg, Pa., for her drawing, \u201cMorning Sun.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alma Barrantes, a senior fromAnalomink, Pa., majoring in art history with a minor in studio design received the third prize for her painting \u201cJared Leto.\u201d<\/p>\n
Benjamin Koch, a senior from York, Pa., majoring in elementary and special education with a minor in art, earned the prize for best 3-D work in the show for his ceramic work, \u201cDistorted Equanimity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Honorable mention awards were given to: Dominick Frabizio, a junior from East Patchogue, N.Y., majoring in art and design for his steel piece \u201cHandmade Knife;\u201d Lauriel Gingrich, a junior, from East Stroudsburg, Pa., majoring in art and design for her painting \u201cHidden;\u201d Chad Jacobson, a junior from Moutoursville, Pa., majoring in art and design for his graphite drawing, \u201cBe Heard;\u201d Melody Rivera, a junior from Portland, Pa., majoring in art and design for her mixed media piece, \u201cLessons in Reverie;\u201d and Amber Trunfio, a junior fromStroudsburg, Pa., majoring in special education and middle school education for her painting, \u201cThe Street.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prized for the exhibit were sponsored by the Pocono Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.\u00a0 Nancy Bohm and Paul Smeltz served as jurors for the exhibit.<\/p>\n
The Art Association All University Juried Student Art Exhibit continues through April 13 in the Madelon Powers Gallery of ESU\u2019s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.<\/p>\n
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.\u00a0 The exhibit is open to the public at no cost.<\/p>\n
