East Stroudsburg University\u2019s Department of Communications Sciences and Disorders was represented at the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association convention in King of Prussia, Pa., earlier this year. All attendees represented ESU by presenting on highly-relevant presentations on topics in the field.<\/p>\n
LuAnn Batson-Magnuson, Ph.D., professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders, gave an oral presentation titled “‘Speed Speech’: How (and Why) to Treat Articulation in 5 Minutes.” She presented along with instructor Emily Doll and 2013 graduate Matthew Magnuson. Rachel Wolf, Ph.D., associate professor and department chair, and Akila Rajappa, Ph.D., assistant professor gave an oral presentation entitled “Using a Systems Approach to Enhance Educational and Clinical Services.” During this presentation Dr. Wolf and Dr. Rajappa shared excerpts from their soon-to-be-published book chapter, \u201cAdaptation of Systems Thinking by Academic and Clinical Educators in the Field of Communication Sciences & Disorders following the COVID-19 Pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Graduate students studying communication sciences and disorders, Rebecca Kugle, from Dover, Pa., and Magdelynn Wigoda, from Minersville, Pa., presented a poster titled, “Hear4You: Support for Students with Auditory Deficiencies.” Isabel Fletcher, a senior from Butler, N.J., presented a poster titled, \u201cBarriers to Early Identification of Dysphagia in Stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n
