Earlier this semester, East Stroudsburg University\u2019s department of sport management welcomed six guest speakers currently working in the sport industry to campus for the S.C.O.R.E. (Sport Careers: Opportunities, Recruitment, and Employment) Symposium. A total of 89 students attended the symposium.<\/p>\n
The S.C.O.R.E. Symposium began by recognizing 10 students who have been inducted for Chi Sigma Mu honor society. The students are Brielle Chmiel, a graduate student from Easton, Pa.; Michael Coleman, a senior from Bangor, Pa.; Nathaniel Gonzalez, a graduate student from Long Pond, Pa.; Jessica Harpel, a senior from West Chester, Pa.; Andrew Krawczyk, a senior from Pittston Township, Pa.; Michael Mattson, a\u00a0 senior From Saylorsburg, Pa.; JohnPaul Nolan, a graduate student from Glenside, Pa.; Shyla Ristine, a graduate student from Quakertown, Pa.; Jaco Sattamini, a graduate student from Delaware Water Gap, Pa.; and Jady Van Gils, a junior from the Netherlands. The COSMA (Commission on Sport Management Accreditation) Chi Sigma Mu Honor Society represents the best students that COSMA-accredited programs have to offer. ESU sport management faculty nominated these students for their academic excellence (minimum 3.4 GPA for undergraduates and 3.6 GPA for graduates), extra-curricular activities and engagement, and community service. There are 35 colleges that have COSMA-accredited sport management academic programs, and 96 sport management students were inducted to Chi Sigma Mu Honor Society in 2024.<\/p>\n
After the guests served on a panel discussion sharing their experiences and insight with current sport management students on the future direction of the industry. Following the discussion, students participated in a networking session with the speakers and six other representatives from industry leaders including Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre Penguins, Somerset Patriots, MetLife Stadium, and Montgomery Township.<\/p>\n
