East Stroudsburg University\u2019s Department of Theatre<\/a> will present Moli\u00e8re\u2019s timeless satirical masterpiece, Tartuffe. The cast of students, directed by Jason Narvy, Ph.D., will welcome audiences Thursday, October 23 through Sunday, October 26.<\/p>\n

Curtain times for the production are 7:30 p.m. Thursday – Saturday (Oct. 23-25) and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. All performances are in the Smith McFarland Theatre of the university\u2019s Fine Arts Building, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.<\/p>\n

General admission is $20, senior citizens, faculty and staff (with ID) are $15, students (with ID) are $10, and youth are $5. Tickets are available online in advance at\u00a0esu.edu\/theatretickets<\/a>. Tickets will also be available at the box office one hour before curtain on performance dates.<\/p>\n

This bold and hilarious production brings 17th-century hypocrisy to life with biting wit, unforgettable characters, and a message that still resonates today. This fresh take on Tartuffe infuses classic French farce with contemporary energy, as it tells the story of a wealthy household turned upside down by the arrival of a pious fraud. Tartuffe, a sanctimonious scoundrel, charms his way into the favor of Orgon, blinding the head of the house to the chaos that ensues. What follows is a whirlwind of deception, devotion, and daring schemes as Orgon\u2019s family attempts to unmask the truth before it’s too late.<\/p>\n

The cast of Tartuffe includes: Annabell Pyne, a junior majoring in psychology and English from Northampton, Pa., as Madame Pernelle; Jet Gillan, a freshman majoring in digital media technologies from Camp Hill, Pa., as Orgon; Bex Hughes, a senior majoring in theatre from Drums, Pa., as Elmire; Aaron Hernandez, a freshman majoring in theatre from Albrightsville, Pa., as Damis; Asia Morales, a junior majoring in theatre from East Stroudsburg, Pa., as Mariane; Josh Joseph, a senior majoring in theatre from East Orange, N.J., as Valere; Samuel Huyett, a senior majoring in theatre from Stockholm, Sweden, as Cleante; Elijah Williams, a junior majoring in theatre and psychology from Scranton, Pa., as Tartuffe; Chelsea Santiago, a junior majoring in theatre from Shrub Oak, N.Y., as Dorine; Brian De Los Santos, a junior majoring in theatre and psychology from Tobyhanna, Pa., as Monsieur Loyal; Michael Gooding, a freshman majoring in theatre from Queens, N.Y., as Laurent; JT Frankenbach, a sophomore majoring in theatre from Washington Crossing, Pa., as The Officer;\u00a0Allison Wright, a sophomore majoring in theatre and Spanish from New Milford, Pa., as Flipote; Jack Burns, a freshman majoring in theatre from Chalfont, Pa., as Valere Understudy; DaDa Ravenwood, a senior majoring in theatre from Valdosta, Ga., as Elmire Understudy; and Amanda Cusick, a junior majoring in psychology from Scranton, Pa., as Dorine Understudy.<\/p>\n
