{"id":24851,"date":"2026-04-20T09:02:56","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T13:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=24851"},"modified":"2026-04-20T09:02:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T13:02:56","slug":"esu-theatre-department-to-dance-showcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/esu-theatre-department-to-dance-showcase\/","title":{"rendered":"ESU Theatre Department to Dance Showcase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>East Stroudsburg University will present <em>Threshold<\/em>, collaborative dance showcase featuring original works by faculty, alumni, and students on Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>All performances are in the Smith McFarland Theatre of the university\u2019s Fine Arts Building, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg. The show is open to the public at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><em>Threshold<\/em>\u00a0explores the idea of transition, the moment between endings and beginnings. Through contemporary choreography combined with lighting, sound, and projection, the performance invites audiences into an immersive experience of movement and visual storytelling.<\/p>\n<p>A key focus of the production is\u00a0interdisciplinary collaboration within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esu.edu\/academics\/colleges-departments\/theatre\/index.php\">Department of Theatre<\/a>. Theatre students with a concentration in design\/technical theatre, under the direction of Robert Graham, assistant professor of theatre, worked with dance students and choreographers to design lighting for each piece in the program.\u00a0This partnership gives design students hands-on experience in developing lighting concepts while collaborating with performers to shape the atmosphere and visual environment of each work.<\/p>\n<p>The showcase features choreography by Jessica Batha, instructor of theatre and dance;\u00a0 Gina\u00a0Pietrantuano, a 2025 graduate with a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology; Autumn Ivins, a senior majoring in interdisciplinary studies from Tannersville, Pa.; Maria Heredia-Rojas, a senior majoring in mathematics from Hazleton, Pa.; Jasmine Morrison, a junior majoring in business management from East Stroudsburg, Pa.; and students enrolled in the Modern Dance Theory class, highlighting emerging and established artists working together in a creative and collaborative process.<\/p>\n<p>Dancers included in the showcase represent a diverse group of artists from across the campus, many of whom are minoring in dance. The performers including: Kaylei Anderson, a sophomore majoring in early childhood education from Canadensis, Pa.; Madison Boltz, a junior majoring in theatre from Palmyra, Pa.; Hannah Fitch, a sophomore majoring in nursing from Wind Gap, Pa.; Kathleen\u00a0Grundstein, a senior majoring in communication sciences and disorders from Bethlehem, Pa.; Maria Heredia-Rojas; Bex Hughes, a senior majoring in theatre from Drums, Pa.; Ivins; Allison Makula, a senior majoring in theatre from Bethlehem, Pa.; Angelina Miller, a senior majoring in social work from Milford, Pa.; Jasmine\u00a0Millsip, a freshman majoring in psychology from Philadelphia, Pa.; Morrison; Emma Moyer, a junior majoring in biology from Kunkletown, Pa.; Matthew Ocasio, a senior majoring in theatre from East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Pietrantuano; Jocelyn\u00a0Redcay, a junior majoring in psychology from\u00a0Denver, Pa.; Ella Radford, a sophomore majoring in marine science from Mt.
