East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania announced open registration today for all community groups and organizations interested in participating in the university\u2019s 2012 Homecoming Parade, scheduled to take place in the borough of East Stroudsburg on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m. Community involvement in the parade, which is expected to begin in the parking lot of ESU\u2019s Kemp Library, located on Smith Street and will end in front of the Mattioli Recreation Center, on Centre Street.\u00a0 Registration is open to all at no cost. Parade registration opens on Monday, July 16 with applications available online at www.esu.edu\/homecoming2012<\/a> or by contacting Chris Bello, assistant director of student activities and co-organizer for the parade at (570) 422-3055 or at cbello@esu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The theme for this ESU\u2019s 2012 Homecoming is \u201cBlast from the Past,\u201d a look back at the university and the local community through the decades. \u201cHomecoming this year is all about celebrating the rich history of ESU and building new traditions with our current students as well as our neighbors in the community,\u201d saysBello. \u201cWe hope to get a great response from the community to join us in this important celebration.\u201d\u00a0Bello adds that the parade will be followed by a football matchup between the Warriors of ESU and the Rams of West Chester University.<\/p>\n

According to Kim Raub, coordinator of commuter student services and co-organizer of the parade, there is a time commitment for each group to consider when signing up to participate. \u201cGroups should arrive for parade line-up at 9 a.m. In addition to having our student organizations involved, we\u2019re hoping to see high school groups, civic organizations, classic cars and more in this year\u2019s parade. Ideally, we want this parade to become an extension of ESU\u2019s Homecoming \u2026 and to generate the same excitement and interest as other community parades.\u201d Raub adds that the parade is only one of many activities planned for this year\u2019s Homecoming at ESU. A full schedule of events will be announced this fall.<\/p>\n
