To follow is an extensive list of events taking place on campus to welcome students.\u00a0 For more information on these events or other happenings at ESU, please contact Brenda Friday, interim director of university relations, at <a href=\"mailto:bfriday@esu.edu\">bfriday@esu.edu<\/a> or (570) 422-3455.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, August 23<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Welcome Graduate Students \u2013 Graduate College Orientation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Keystone Room \u2013 noon to 4 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ESU\u2019s graduate students will enjoy a light lunch, get to know other new graduate students and meet other faculty and staff from the ESU community.\u00a0 This afternoon program is intended to help graduate students get the most out of their academic experience with programs including \u201cApplying Leadership and Merit Skills,\u201d \u201cKey Contacts at ESU,\u201d and \u201cMaking the Most of Research Opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, August 25 and Sunday August 26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Welcome to Campus<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Residence Halls at ESU \u2013 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ESU faculty, staff and student volunteers welcome incoming freshmen to campus.\u00a0 Wearing specially designed T-shirts, these volunteers will greet families as they enter campus, answer questions and assist as students move into their residence halls.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Warriors Assemble!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Koehler Fieldhouse\/Linden Quad \u2013 starting at 7:30 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Warriors Assemble! program is new and for our freshmen.\u00a0 The theme for this program is a spin-off of the hit movie, \u201cAvengers Assemble,\u201d and will address bystander intervention related to sexual assault. Following the program, students will \u2018assemble\u2019 for a fun evening of carnival\u00a0 activities on Linden Quad including a DJ, photo booth, photo magazine covers, recreational games and activities, food and beverages, and opportunities to acquire local-community organization information for potential involvement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, August 26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Student Day of Service<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>12 p.m. \u2013 3 p.m.<br \/>\n<\/em>New students will give back to their new community through a series of community service projects. \u00a0ESU students will be involved with planting and gardening around the Senior Center on Analomink Street in East Stroudsburg, helping to prepare the classrooms for Head Start, and competing with residents in a Senior Olympics at the Pocono Lutheran Village. \u00a0Members of ESU fraternities and sororities will serve as team leaders at each service site.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Academic Convocation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Koehler Fieldhouse \u2013 4 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A formal ceremony featuring key ESU administrators, faculty and students who will officially welcome new students as they begin the fall semester and their academic\u00a0journey, leading to success and receiving their degree.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Picnic <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Linden Quad \u2013 Immediately following Academic Convocation<\/em><\/p>\n<p>New and returning students enjoy dinner and entertainment as well as some relaxing time on the ESU campus as they get to know one another.\u00a0 This event also provides students with opportunities to meet ESU faculty, staff and administrators in a casual atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Orientation Leader Mentor Program<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Keystone Room \u2013 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Upper class orientation leaders will meet with new students to facilitate the \u201cgetting to know your classmates\u201d process and relationship-building.
