{"id":3033,"date":"2012-09-14T09:54:42","date_gmt":"2012-09-14T14:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www4.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=3033"},"modified":"2012-09-14T09:54:42","modified_gmt":"2012-09-14T14:54:42","slug":"esu-students-faculty-staff-participate-in-monroe-countys-day-of-caring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/esu-students-faculty-staff-participate-in-monroe-countys-day-of-caring\/","title":{"rendered":"ESU Students, Faculty, Staff Participate in Monroe County\u2019s Day Of Caring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 20\u00a0East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) students, faculty and staff participated in the 2012 Day of Caring sponsored by the United Way of Monroe County, held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at various locations throughout the Poconos.\u00a0Day of Caring is a one day event for volunteers to provide hands-on service to the United Way, its\u00a0partner agencies, and other local nonprofits.<\/p>\n<p>From left, Daria Wielebinski, director of career services and Kizzy Morris, director\/registrar of enrollment services work with other ESU employees at Camp Trexler, the Boy Scout Camp, in Kunkletown, to remove weeds and shrubbery from areas along the property\u2019s dam and wetlands. Daria and Kizzy are the 2012 co-chairs of ESU\u2019s State Employee Combined Appeal (SECA), which largely supports United Way initiatives statewide.<\/p>\n<p>While ESU faculty and staff were stationed at Camp Trexler, students were stationed at Big Pocono State park in Tannersville, where they cleaned areas near hiking trails and planted native flora.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Caring2.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Caring2\" width=\"200\" height=\"103\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3149\" \/>From left, Associate Professor of Psychology, Dr. Bonnie Green and Associate Provost for Academic and Institutional Effectiveness, Dr. Yun Kim work with other ESU employees at Camp Trexler, the Boy Scout Camp in Kunkletown, in support of the 2012 Day of Caring sponsored by the United Way of Monroe County.<\/p>\n<p>More than 20\u00a0East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) students, faculty and staff participated in the event at various locations throughout the Poconos.\u00a0Day of Caring is a one-day event for volunteers to provide hands-on service to the United Way, its\u00a0partner agencies, and other local nonprofits.<\/p>\n<p>Students from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania were stationed at Big Pocono State park in Tannersville during 2012 Day of Caring activities sponsored by the United Way of Monroe County yesterday. The students cleared the way for a bike trail and relocated many native plants.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Caring3.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Caring3\" width=\"200\" height=\"103\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3150\" \/>Students and student group leaders taking part were from left: Kayte Keenan, Jamie Thomas, Katelin Becker, Julie Wagaman, Kimberly Raub, coordinator of commuter student services and Christopher Bello, assistant director of student activities. This project was done in collaboration with Youth Infusion and Trips for Kids.
