O\u2019Rourke will be reading from her work\u2014her memoir and poetry. She will also be speaking about her experience writing for Slate.com., a major online magazine. The event is open to all members of the campus community and the general public at no cost.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Rourke is the culture editor and literary critic for Slate.com. Her writing has covered topics ranging from grief and popular culture to the works of major literary figures. She is the author of two books of poetry <em>Once<\/em> and <em>Half life<\/em> and a best-selling memoir, <em>The Long Goodbye.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to her website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.meghanorourke.net\">www.meghanorourke.net<\/a>), O\u2019Rourke began her career as one of the youngest editors in the history of\u00a0 <em>The New Yorker<\/em>. Since then, she has served as culture editor and literary critic for <em>Slate<\/em> as well as poetry editor and advisory editor for <em>The Paris Review<\/em>.
