Schramm, Ph.D., Named Grand Marshal for Winter Commencement Ceremonies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Robert F. Schramm, Ph.D., will be the grand marshal for East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania\u2019s graduate commencement ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on December 14 and undergraduate commencement ceremony on December 15 at 10:00 a.m.\u00a0 Both ceremonies will be held in Koehler Fieldhouse. Dr. Schramm joined the ESU faculty in 1970.\u00a0 He earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in chemistry from St. Joseph\u2019s University in Philadelphia, and his doctorate in inorganic chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Schramm taught a variety of courses throughout his career at ESU including \u201cGeneral Chemistry I and II,\u201d \u201cInorganic Chemistry,\u201d \u201cAdvanced Chemistry Laboratory,\u201d and \u201cPhysical Chemistry I, II and III,\u201d among others.\u00a0 His research interests, for which he has received a number of grants, include the application of software packages to be used to improve and update chemistry laboratory courses.<\/p>\n<p>His significant contributions to university service are demonstrated through his willingness to serve on many committees both in his department and university-wide including the admissions appeals committee, the tutoring services task force, and the university-wide promotion and tenure committees. \u00a0Dr. Schramm served as the faculty advisor to the Chemistry Club\/Student Affiliate Chapter for 26 years.\u00a0 In 1997 he was recognized by the American Chemical Society as a commendable advisor, one of 40 honored Chapter Advisors in the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0 In 2003 he was honored by the ESU Alumni Association with the Great Teacher Award and in 2004, Dr. Schramm was the recipient of ESU\u2019s Distinguished Professor Award, the university\u2019s highest faculty honor, for his nearly forty years of teaching and service to the university.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, Dr. Schramm has authored a number of articles for periodicals and journals, presented locally and nationally and received grant funding for research initiatives.\u00a0 He is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Lehigh Valley local chapter of ACS, the division of inorganic chemistry of the ACS, the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society and the Phi Lambda Upsilon Honorary Chemical Society.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Schramm resides in East Stroudsburg with his wife, Edie.\u00a0 They have three children, Robert, Erich \u201994, and Maria \u201902, and one grandson, Ethan James Magyar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Robert F.
