The East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally (LGBTQA) Program Center and People Representing Individual Diversity in Education (PRIDE) student organization will sponsor a screening of the documentary film \u201cFagbug\u201d followed by a discussion with the film\u2019s creator, Erin Davies, on Wednesday, November 7, at 7 p.m. in the Keystone Room. The event is open to the general public at no cost.<\/p>\n
According to Davies, the mission of \u201cFagbug\u201d is to raise awareness about hate crimes and homophobia, to give a voice for those who are silent, to inspire others to take a stand against bullies, and to be an example of how to overcome obstacles in bringing creative projects to life.<\/p>\n
Davies was the victim of a hate crime in Albany, N.Y. Because she displayed a rainbow sticker on her car, it was vandalized, marked with offensive slurs on the driver’s side window and hood. Despite initial shock and embarrassment, Erin decided to embrace what happened by leaving the graffiti on her car. She took her vehicle, now known worldwide as the “fagbug,” on a 58-day trip around the United States and Canada. Erin shares these adventures and the people she met along the way during this presentation.
