The East Stroudsburg University Foundation proudly announces the release of a specially designed Liztech pin, \u201cGreat Expectations,\u201d designed to commemorate the inauguration of ESU\u2019s 13th president, Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D.\u00a0 Two hundred pins are being made by the East Stroudsburg artisans at Liztech Jewelry.\u00a0 The pins will sell for $65 with net proceeds to benefit ESU student scholarships.\u00a0 The official \u201cunveiling\u201d of the pin will take place during a reception at the Liztech Gallery on Crystal Street in East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, April 2 from 5 to 7 p.m.\u00a0 The event is open to the general public at no cost and light refreshments will be served.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The name of the ESU pin, \u2018Great Expectations,\u2019 complements the general theme for ESU\u2019s Inauguration:\u00a0 \u201cGreat Expectations speaks with many voices.\u00a0 It is Dr. Welsh\u2019s message of her personal vision for East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and its student body; it is the voice of every student who eagerly anticipates a bright and promising future; and it is the hope extended by members of campus and regional communities that the university will continue to grow, thrive and help others achieve greatness in their own right.\u00a0 As we prepare to celebrate the arrival of Dr. Welsh, which coincides with the university\u2019s 120th<\/sup> year in 2013, we know that ESU remains an unfolding story with a rich history and endless possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n The story card that accompanies each pin gives a full description of its intended meaning:\u00a0 \u201cThe unique design symbolizes one\u2019s personal opportunities for growth, success, and achievement, and speaks to ESU\u2019s mission to offer every student a bright and promising future.\u201d<\/p>\n The pin\u2019s design has many unique qualities, according to Jill Elizabeth, owner and designer for Liztech Jewelry.\u00a0 \u201cWe wanted to embody the special logo being used for Dr. Welsh\u2019s inauguration while also giving attention to the university\u2019s school colors and the institutional vision to reach beyond what we expect of ourselves to do great things.\u201d<\/p>\n Each pin will be individually gift wrapped in a Chinese carton and ready for gift-giving.\u00a0<\/p>\n The unveiling reception at Liztech is being sponsored by the ESU Foundation and Liztech.\u00a0 Pre-orders are now being taken at Liztech and at the ESU Foundation offices located in the Henry A. Ahnert, Jr. Alumni Center on Smith Street in East Stroudsburg near the Kemp Library.\u00a0 Credit card pre-orders can also be made at www.esufoundation.org\/esuliztech<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now in its 29th<\/sup> year, Liztech Jewelry began in 1984 by recycling old costume jewelry and today has a mailing list of nearly 16,000 customers internationally.\u00a0 The Liztech line has different pin, earring and bracelet shapes that are all handmade at its location in East Stroudsburg.\u00a0 Many of the pieces are inspired by the American Southwest, Egyptian and Indian mythology.<\/p>\n For many years, Liztech has been helping local non-profit organizations raise funds with its unique jewelry.\u00a0 To date, 98 local fundraising initiatives have benefitted from Liztech\u2019s expertise.\u00a0 The custom-made pins are designed especially for each organization.\u00a0 For more information about Liztech, visit www.liztech.com<\/a>.
