{"id":5981,"date":"2013-05-21T12:42:50","date_gmt":"2013-05-21T16:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=5981"},"modified":"2013-05-21T12:42:50","modified_gmt":"2013-05-21T16:42:50","slug":"esus-student-nurses-association-sna-hosts-third-annual-senior-citizen-prom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/esus-student-nurses-association-sna-hosts-third-annual-senior-citizen-prom\/","title":{"rendered":"ESU\u2019s Student Nurses Association (SNA) Hosts Third Annual Senior Citizen Prom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Student Nurses Association (SNA) chapter at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) recently sponsored its third annual Senior Citizen Prom during the spring semester.\u00a0 According to Paulette Dorney, an instructor in ESU\u2019s nursing department and SNA adviser, more than 40 senior citizens from Loder Senior Center, Hillcrest Retirement Community, Chandler Estates, and the community attended this event at no cost and were able to enjoy fellowship, dancing, light refreshments as well as a photo booth and door prizes. Dorney added that the Senior Citizen Prom offers a platform in which nursing students can socially interact with senior citizens of the community and apply what they have learned about the older adult.\u00a0Part of SNA\u2019s mission as an organization is to promote active involvement in community service activities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Senior-Citizen-Prom2.jpg\" alt=\"Senior-Citizen-Prom2\" width=\"150\" height=\"213\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-5987\" \/>Attendees enjoyed the event, including Angie Matesse who said \u201cIt was a blast!\u201d\u00a0and Gwen Marvin who said \u201cIt was a blessing to be here. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a very delightful afternoon,\u201d said Carolyn E. Woolley.\u00a0 \u201cEveryone was so great and so was the music. I had such a great time with everyone and the food was great too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnjoyable Sunday afternoon,\u201d said Alice Connors.\u00a0 \u201cThe music got everyone in a fantastic mood.
