East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D. announced the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Long, M.B.A., as the vice president of administration and finance effective July 1, 2013.\u00a0 Mr. Long comes to ESU from Kutztown University (KU) where he has served as assistant vice president for administration and finance since 2008.\u00a0 He also served as interim vice president for finance and administration at Cheyney University for six months in 2012.\u00a0 These appointments, in addition to earlier positions with the University of Toledo, and DeVry University, are strong indicators that Long brings to ESU more than 25 years of progressive work experience in higher education.<\/p>\n
Long earned a bachelor of arts degree in math and political science from Drew University in Madison, N.J. and an M.B.A.\u00a0from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, N.J.\u00a0 He has experience teaching courses in business administration, financial accounting and managerial accounting and has made presentations at a number of regional and national meetings and conferences.\u00a0\u00a0Among\u00a0 his many accomplishments, Long initiated KU\u2019s first multi-year financial forecast, re-aligned KU\u2019s operating budget to provide $1 million to support the strategic plan, successfully coordinated more than $20 million in expenditure reductions to meet financial and strategic objectives, and participated in the implementation of integrated information systems (Banner, Oracle\/PeopleSoft, Lawson and Cognos).<\/p>\n
At ESU, Long will report directly to President Welsh and will serve as ESU\u2019s Chief Financial Officer. \u00a0Core university operations reporting to Ken will include the business office, procurement and contracting, facilities management, computing and communication services, public safety, human resources and the office of diversity and equal opportunity.<\/p>\n
