This year\u2019s theme will give alumni, students, and other visitors a chance to show the Spirit of the Warrior. Homecoming highlights include a dance mob on October 31 and a home football game against Lock Haven University at Eiler-Martin Stadium on November 2. All activities listed below are open to the public at no cost unless otherwise stated, and the schedule is subject to change as more events are added. For more information and to pre-register, contact Jill Harper at 570-422-2978 or <a href=\"mailto:jharper@esu.edu\">jharper@esu.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Paint the Town Red and Black<br \/>\nOctober 28 \u2013 November 1<br \/>\nEast Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg Businesses<\/strong><br \/>\nThis collaborative program will allow ESU students to create window displays for participating local businesses throughout East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg to show their \u201cWarrior Spirit.\u201d This collaboration was made possible thanks to the Eastburg Community Alliance and The Jacob Stroud Corporation. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Zumba Costume Party<br \/>\nMonday, October 28<br \/>\n7 p.m. &#8211; 9 p.m., Mattioli Recreation Center<\/strong><br \/>\nCome \u2018shake\u2019 it in costume! This Zumba party is free for all attendees, including ESU alumni, with ESU ID. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Homecoming Pageant<br \/>\nTuesday, October 29<br \/>\n8 p.m. &#8211; 10 p.m., Keystone Room<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Homecoming Pageant is an opportunity to recognize students who have made significant contributions to the ESU campus and the local community through volunteer efforts. The nominees for ESU\u2019s Homecoming king and queen are presented at a judged pageant. Each candidate is evaluated through four separate phases during the week of homecoming, including the homecoming pageant, a campus-wide \u201ctext vote,\u201d a video submission, and fundraising for his or her respective charity. The scores of these components will be used to select the finalists. The winners will be recognized at Warrior Spirit Night on Nov. 1, at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The pageant is open to the public at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, October 30<br \/>\nWarrior Men\u2019s Soccer: ESU vs. Lock Haven<br \/>\n7 p.m. &#8211; 9 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium<\/strong><br \/>\nCome cheer on the ESU Men\u2019s soccer team during their homecoming match as they take on the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. The soccer match will be free to ESU students with ID; $3 for children and seniors, and $5 for adults. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, October 30<br \/>\n6th Annual Drag Show<br \/>\n8 p.m. &#8211; 10 p.m., Keystone Room<\/strong><br \/>\nJoin Sharon Husbands and her crew of professional and student Queens and Kings for a fabulously entertaining evening of glitz and glamour! Help the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally Program Center and ESU\u2019s LGBTQA student organization, PRIDE, raise funds to benefit the Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays of Monroe County. Tickets will be $2 and available, in advance, from the LGBTQA Program Center in Shawnee Residence Hall, or at the door. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, October 31<br \/>\nThriller Dance Mob<br \/>\n8:30 p.m. &#8211; 9:30 p.m., Crystal Street<\/strong><br \/>\nTake part in one of NEPA\u2019s largest dance mobs reenacting Michael Jackson\u2019s \u201cThriller\u201d video! The dance mob will take place on Crystal St., East Stroudsburg, Pa. \u201cZombie\u201d costumes are encouraged! Practice the dance by visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esu.edu\/homecoming\">www.esu.edu\/homecoming<\/a> to view the practice video.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, October 31<br \/>\nMovie: Nightmare on Elm Street<br \/>\n9:30 p.m. &#8211; 11:30 p.m., Pocono Community Theater<\/strong><br \/>\nJoin the ESU family for movie night at the Pocono Community Theater and enjoy the classic horror film, Nightmare on Elm Street. There will be no cost for ESU students, alumni, and staff with ID. The cost for community members is $3. For more information, call General Manager Courtney Tolino at 570-421-2036. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, November 1<br \/>\nRemembrance Day Program<br \/>\n1 p.m. &#8211; 2 p.m., Keystone Room<\/strong><br \/>\nESU\u2019s sixth Remembrance Day program will honor the memories of university students, faculty, staff, and alumni who passed away during the 2012-2013 academic year (September 2012 \u2013 May 2013). This year\u2019s program will include readings, musical selections, and reflections by ESU students, faculty, and staff.  Families of some of those who have passed will also attend and participate. This event is open to the public at no cost. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, November 1<br \/>\nAlumni Awards and Reunion Banquet<br \/>\n5 p.m. &#8211; 9 p.m., Stroudsmoor Country Inn<\/strong><br \/>\nAn annual event recognizing those individuals receiving this year\u2019s Alumni Awards and the reunion classes of 1958 and 1963, this year\u2019s award winners are: Distinguished Alumni Award \u2013 Sherry Salway Black \u201974 and Thomas Petro \u201972; the Helen G. Brown Honor Award \u2013 Bettyann Fischer Creighton \u201974; Conrad \u201cSkip\u201d Idukas Service Award \u2013 Patricia Alberts Hibschman \u201962; Dr. George Thompson, Jr. Award \u2013 Julio Guridy \u201984; Jim Barniak Award \u2013 Gilbert \u201cGib\u201d Romaine \u201966; Great Teacher Award \u2013 Denny Douds; George Ockershausen Student Service Award \u2013 Melanie Hand \u201913; and Young Alumni Achievement Award \u2013 Matthew Semcheski \u201903 and Melissa Owens \u201906 M\u201911.  <\/p>\n<p>A cocktail hour, buffet dinner, and formal program will conclude in time for guests to view the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The event will include performances from the university marching band, the crowning of homecoming king and queen, and all homecoming week contest award winners. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, November 1<br \/>\nHomecoming Fireworks Display<br \/>\n9:30 p.m. &#8211; 9:45 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium<\/strong><br \/>\nA brilliant fireworks display will be held at the ESU football stadium to kick off the weekend events. As a reminder, alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the stadium. This event is open to the public at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, November 2<br \/>\nAthletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony<br \/>\n8 a.m. &#8211; 12 p.m., Keystone Room<\/strong><br \/>\nThis annual event pays recognition to the outstanding athletic accomplishments of ESU alumni. The 2013 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are: Steve Mummaw \u201972 (Football), Jim Vargo \u201980 (Wrestling), Men\u2019s Gymnastics Team \u201981-\u201984, Dawn Strunk \u201993 M\u201902 (Field Hockey &#038; Lacrosse), Kevin Nagle \u201900 M\u201904 (Football), Cheryl Griffin Birmingham \u201901 (Track &#038; Field), and Sean Stewart \u201903 (Soccer). Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. and the event starts at 9 a.m. Hall of Fame inductees will also be recognized at halftime during the Warriors\u2019 football game vs. Lock Haven, which kicks off at 3:05 p.m. Tickets for the ceremony are $30 for adults and $15 for children and include a ticket to the football game. This event is open to the public at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, November 2<br \/>\nLGBTQA Program Center Open House<br \/>\n10 a.m. &#8211; 12 p.m., Shawnee Hall<\/strong><br \/>\nVisit the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer &#038; Ally (LGBTQA) Program Center in its new location in Shawnee Hall. Light refreshments will be available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, November 2<br \/>\nAlumni Tailgate and Hospitality Tent<br \/>\n11 a.m. &#8211; 2:30 p.m., Henry A. Ahnert, Jr. Alumni Center<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile all of the tailgate parking spaces for alumni have already been sold, ESU alumni and their families can still attend this annual event where they can enjoy the FREE food and music at the hospitality tent, in addition to visiting various tailgating groups around the parking lot. The tailgating festivities run from 11 a.m. &#8211; 2:30 p.m. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older to enter the tailgate area and will be asked to provide valid identification. Free child care services and activities will be available during the festivities at the  \u201cWarriors Kid Camp\u201d from 10 a.m. &#8211; 2:45 p.m. in Lenape Hall for children of all ages (must be potty-trained). Activities for children will include an inflatable bouncer, crafts, video games, activities, and more. Ahnert, Jr. Alumni Center<\/strong><br \/>\nAlumni are encouraged to stop by the video booth during the alumni tailgate to document their favorite ESU memory for a promotional video. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, November 2<br \/>\nHomecoming Parade<br \/>\n12 p.m. &#8211; 1:30 p.m., ESU Campus and East Stroudsburg Borough<\/strong><br \/>\nJoin us in celebrating ESU pride and tradition at this year\u2019s Homecoming Parade. There are two wonderful ways to enjoy the parade this year! You can watch the parade curbside anywhere along the route that stretches from the ESU campus to Crystal Street, OR you can participate in the parade and promote your organization to the loyal ESU community. Either way, we want to celebrate the parade together! The route begins in the parking lot behind Dansbury Commons, traveling through campus, down Analomink Street, across Crystal Street, and ending back at the starting point. This event is open to the public at no cost. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, November 2<br \/>\nFootball Game: ESU vs. Lock Haven<br \/>\n2:30 p.m. &#8211; 6:30 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium<\/strong><br \/>\nCheer on the Warriors as they take on the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. Prior to the game, meet the 2013 Homecoming king and queen, ESU\u2019s mascot Burgy, hang out in the Fan Zone, and visit with other sponsors! Halftime features recognition of the Athletic Hall of Fame inductees and a marching band performance.
