Members of the ESU Community are Invited to Attend the Seminar Online Innovations in Learning led by Penn State University\u2019s Kyle Peck, Ph.D. from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 8 in 113 Stroud Hall<\/strong>. For more information, contact Tony Leisen at aleisen@esu.edu, the director of ESU\u2019s Center for Teaching with Technology. The event is free.<\/p>\n

A Veterans Day Program to Recognize Local Veterans, Servicemen and Servicewomen in all Branches of the Armed Services will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Keystone Room<\/strong>. The program also will introduce veterans to the educational opportunities available to them at ESU. A military observance will include a three-volley salute adjacent to the Julia statue at the front campus circle. The celebration is open to the general public and campus community at no cost. The Athletic Training Department is Hosting a Screening of \u201cThe Weight of the Nation,\u201d HBO\u2019s four-part Documentary. Parts one and two of the Series will be shown at 6:30 PM Monday, Nov. 18 in Stroud Hall, Room 117<\/strong>. The documentary features case studies and interviews with leading experts and families struggling with obesity. The screenings will be followed by a discussion and brainstorming session of how to tackle obesity, which affects 68 percent of Americans ages 20 and older. ESU\u2019s Research and Economic Development (RED) Division, in Collaboration with Several Community Partners will host a Series of Informative Business Seminars from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Innovation Center<\/strong>. The seminar will focus on advancements in web development and product design. Five Female Panelists will Participate in \u201cWomen as Leaders\u201d Roundtable at 7:00 PM on Thursday, Nov. 21, in Room 117 Stroud Hall<\/strong>. Students will have the opportunity to interact with highly accomplished women who will provide their approaches to leadership and discuss any perceived barriers they face as female politicians and public figures. The Entrepreneurial Leadership Center will host Cheree Warrick, National Expert, Speaker and Author of \u201cCreating Business Plans that Actually Get Financed\u201d from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 21, at the ESU Innovation Center<\/strong>. Following Warrick\u2019s presentation, she will serve as the keynote speaker
\nat ESU\u2019s student business plan competition awards reception from 5:00 to 7:30 PM Warrick\u2019s book, \u201cCreating Business Plans that Actually Get Financed,\u201d is a handbook for raising capital and understanding exactly what banks and investors want to know before making a commitment. The \u201cInnovators Only\u201d reception provides an opportunity for ESU students to network with local entrepreneurs.
