East Stroudsburg University\u2019s College of Business and Management is hosting an informative, thought-provoking program, \u201cThe Early History of \u00a0Business in Northeastern Pennsylvania,\u201d on Wednesday, February 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall.<\/p>\n

After four speakers give presentations of about 20 minutes each, there will be a 30-minute question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe area has a rich history in business, and we felt it was important to share it with our students, our local community and the entire campus community,\u201d said one of the event\u2019s organizers, Sheila Handy, Ph.D., ESU professor and chair of business management.<\/p>\n

Richard Hope, who currently teaches at ESU, will speak about the Easton area in the 1750s. David Long, who has previously taught at ESU, will follow and discuss Bethlehem Steel. Ian Ackroyd-Kelly, Ph.D., a retired ESU professor, will address the ice and tanning industries and the Slate Belt before Albert Moranville, chair and associate professor of hotel, restaurant and tourism management at ESU, discusses early tourism in the region.<\/p>\n
