The East Stroudsburg University\/Community Orchestra will perform Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns musical suite, Carnival of the Animals<\/i>, at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 9, in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of the University\u2019s Fine & Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets.<\/p>\n
Otis French, Ph.D., ESU associate professor of music, will conduct the orchestra in\u00a0Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 light-hearted classic, which features 14 sections, each representing a different animal or animals. Broadway performer Pearce Wegener will read poet Ogden Nash\u2019s lively narration to the suite.<\/p>\n
Betsy Buzzelli-Clarke, Ed.D., ESU associate professor and chair of music, and Jenny Collins, ESU music instructor, are featured pianists for the concert.<\/p>\n
Prior to the performance, ESU\u2019s department of theatre will conduct an interactive workshop for children on how to create animal characters and puppets at 2 p.m. in the recital hall.<\/p>\n
The concert and workshop, sponsored by Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival and ESU\u2019s department of music, are open to the public at no cost. No tickets are necessary.<\/p>\n
