James C. Hunt, associate professor of biological sciences and director of marine sciences, will talk about new technologies, inefficient regulation, overzealous industry practices and how poor science have all contributed to the collapse of many fish stocks recently. The public is invited at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ESU will launch its Annual Lecture Series emphasizing nursing enrichment, at 5:00 PM, Thursday, March 13, at the ESU Innovation Center<\/strong>. For three decades, Yvonne Troiani Sweeney, a nurse and ESU graduate, has been passionate about treating patients with dignity and compassion. Sweeney will be at ESU to help kick off an annual speaker series in her name that aims to educate and inspire current and future health professionals. Nurses who attend will be eligible for continuing education credits. The public is invited at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Hon. Rosemary Brown, state representative for the 189th legislative district, will sponsor Financial Literacy Seminars Sunday, March 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and Monday, March 17, 6:30 to 9:30 PM, at the ESU Innovation Center<\/strong>. The event is part of her initiative to strengthen the next generation\u2019s financial knowledge. Parents can help their child gain valuable information to manage their finances and help them make smart decisions to stay out of debt. The public is invited at no cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Empty Bowls: A Grassroots Movement To Help End Hunger is from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 27, in the Keystone Room<\/strong>. All proceeds donated go to the Salvation Army in East Stroudsburg. Event will include a selection of hand- crafted bowl and soup lunch for $10. The ESU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program will be offered from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the ESU Innovation Center, located at 562 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa.
