East Stroudsburg University will host award-winning poet Vijay Seshadri on Thursday, April 3, for a poetry reading in Beers Lecture Hall at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n
Jan Selving, assistant professor of English, and Rick Madigan, associate professor of English, look forward to introducing students and the community to Seshadri\u2019s work, which includes highly acclaimed essays, poems and reviews that have appeared in many publications, including AGNI, The American Scholar, Antaeus, Bomb, Boulevard, Lumina, The Nation, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Shenandoah, The Southwest Review, The Threepenny Review, Verse, Western Humanities Review, The Yale Review <\/i>and the Times Book Review<\/i>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Two of Seshadri\u2019s more well-known books are, Wild Kingdom,<\/i> which was published in 1996 and The Long Meadow<\/i>, which won the 2003 James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets. His most recent book is 3 Sections<\/i>, from Graywolf Press.<\/p>\n
Seshadri, who currently teaches poetry and nonfiction writing at Sarah Lawrence College, was born in Bangalore, India, before moving to the United States when he was 5 years old. He has been awarded The Paris Review\u2019s<\/i> Bernard F. Conners Long Poem Prize and the MacDowell Colony\u2019s Fellowship for Distinguished Poetic Achievement.<\/p>\n
