Catherine T. Klingler, Curator/Director
Cathy Klingler arrived at the Schisler Museum and McMunn Planetarium in September 2015, after working for 20 years with the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh in a range of roles including deputy director of exhibits, curatorial assistant, and manager of media services. Prior to that she worked as a technical writer and translator in the US and Germany.
Cathy graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with BA degrees in Writing and German, and she earned an MA from Rutgers University. Through it all, she maintained her passion for science and nature. She entered the museum world by accident, discovering during a museum summer job that her range of interests could actually turn into a career. Cathy has also served as a volunteer and consultant for such organizations as the Pennsylvania Department for the Conservation of Natural Resources, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, Johns Hopkins University Press, and numerous community groups.
Cathy is also the Chair of the Heritage Collection at East Stroudsburg University, which preserves, protects, and shares the cultural treasures of the Pocono Mountains region. The Heritage Collection is comprised of the Schisler Museum & McMunn Planetarium, the Sterling Strauser Collection, the University Art & Archives, and the Al Cohn Memorial Jazz Collection.
