A.W.A.Y. (Active Warriors All Year) is an initiative of the Office of Student Engagement which engages students in altruism and social justice initiatives in and outside of Pennsylvania.

AWAY Service Opportunities

Fall ’19 Trips

AWAY Monroe

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County’s mission is to eliminate poverty housing by building decent, affordable homes in partnership with qualifying families.

When: Saturday, October 12th from 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

Cost: Trip is FREE for ESU students and it includes transportation, supplies and lunch.

Deadline: Sign up in the SAA Office (University Center, Room #223) by October 9th (updated).

Info: Since their founding in 1978, Ronald McDonald House New York has provided temporary lodging and care for more than 35,000 families while their child battles cancer. We will visiting the Ronald McDonald House on helping with various tasks including cleaning, pantry-stocking, donation- organizing and more! Student must be 18 years or older to participate in this AWAY trip.

When: Sunday, November 24th from 1:00-4:00 pm 

Registration: Sign up in the SAA Office (University Center, Room #223) with a $1o deposit reimbursed the day of the event.

Spring ’20 Trips

AWAY North Carolina

A tentative trip Spring Break 2020 is in the works to serve the population affected by the Huricane Dorian. Students will be able to sign up to serve in reconstruction and clean-up efforts. Information will be available at the end of October.

AWAY Puerto Rico

Tentative trips during Winter break and Spring Break are in the works to serve the population on the south east area of the island who were affected bu Hurricane Maria. Students can sign up to serve in health brigades, environmental work, and service to seniors. Applications will be available in September of 2019.
