A goal of the ESU Center for Computer Security and Information Assurance is to promote security awareness and literacy.  Computer users must be aware of security issues and our goal is to help many users also become literate in computer security.  On campus, the ESU Computer Science Department promotes these issues by offering the PC Security and Privacy course.

CPSC 105: PC Security and Privacy
This course deals with the basic concepts of computer security and privacy: PC basics, networking basics, confidentiality, integrity and availability of data, authentication, cryptography, threats to computer security such as viruses, computer security controls such as antivirus software and firewalls and security and privacy on the Internet.  These topics are discussed in a manner to promote awareness of computer security issues, not technical knowledge. As of Spring 2009, this course will be offered on campus and online.

The National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace is a Federal Government effort to help educate our nation in computer security.  The ESU CCSIA fully supports these goals and will continue to play our part in this education.
