The sociology, social work, and criminal justice department at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will be holding the third annual Law Enforcement Partnership Day on Wednesday, April 22, on the Linden Quad, located behind Koehler Fieldhouse.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the university will welcome to campus federal, state, and local police agencies from Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. The law enforcement professionals will speak to the general public about their role in public safety, criminal investigations, community relations and recruitment. “It is a great way for people to learn about law enforcement by speaking to those who work in the field on a daily basis,” Richard A. Ruck Jr., instructor of sociology, social work, and criminal justice, said.
From 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., following the presentation from the officials, a panel discussion featuring faculty members from the sociology, social work, and criminal justice department will be held in Stroud Hall 113. The panel discussion will address current research and academic endeavors in the field of criminal justice. Panelists include criminal justice faculty members Carrie Maloney, Ph.D., assistant professor and program coordinator, Richard A. Ruck, instructor, and Michael Pittaro, instructor. The panel discussion will be moderated by John Kraybill-Greggo, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the department of sociology, social work and criminal justice.
“We hope the campus community takes advantage of this opportunity to meet and form partnerships with law enforcement professionals and criminal justice faculty,” Ruck said.
This event is open to the public and it is free of charge. For more information contact Ruck. at 570-422-3192 or rruck@esu.edu.
