East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania student Zuri Redmond, a sophomore communication major from Paterson, N.J., has earned a part-time internship spot this summer with Sirius XM in New York, N.Y. Redmond will be working specifically with the talk show, Insight – Tell Me Everything with John Fugelsang.

According to Xorje Olivares, host/senior producer for Sirius XM, Redmond will be among several dozen students from universities nationwide participating in Sirius XM’s summer internship program. Redmond earned her internship spot based on the general and technical skills she brings to the show including solid interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, initiative, knowledge and interest in current events, pop culture and politics and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

According to siriusxm.com website, Fugelsang’s show airs daily on Sirius Channel 121, Insight, which is devoted to political comedy, financial talk and more. The website also characterizes Fugelsang as “… an acclaimed comedian, television host and social media star who challenges conventional wisdom on politics, media, religion, and pop culture on an entertaining and irreverent daily call-in show. Journalists, comics, artists, authors, activists and political figures all have a place at the table along with many special guests.”  Those interviewed by Fugelsang include Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Carolos Santana, Rita Moreno, Beyonce Knowles and more.

Responsibilities associated with Redmond’s internship include learning and assisting with daily radio show operations, editing audio, running the sound board for the show, performing show preparation and research for Fugelsang and other on-air talent, interacting with listeners through e-mail and on-air phone screening, conducting outreach, logging shows and participating in on-air content. She will begin her work with Fugelsang’s show in June.
