Emmy Winner & Podcast Entrepreneur Shines at ESU

It’s hard to keep up with Tammy Tuckey. She has a schedule that will wear you out and a resume that will wow you. The sophomore business major, with a focus in entrepreneurship and a minor in communication studies, has a weekly podcast that requires hours of prep work and editing. She is also writing a musical and a screenplay and has two part-time jobs.

Her resume includes an Emmy she won for a seven-minute movie she wrote and directed. She is president of ESU’s Entrepreneurial Club and placed sixth in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education Business Plan Competition.

“Everyone who meets her is fascinated with what she’s already done,” said Gerald Ephault, Entrepreneurial Leadership Center(ELC) Coordinator, and State System of Higher Education Student Business Plan Competition Coordinator. “She has a really bright future wherever she goes.”

Tuckey said there’s no doubt ESU will help her get there. In addition to working closely with the college of business and management, she regularly seeks advice from Ephault, especially when it relates to marketing her podcast, “The Tiara Talk Show,” for which Tuckey maintains a website, various social media accounts, and a phone line where listeners can leave messages.

“Working with Jerry has been such a joy,” Tuckey said.

So has everything that comes with her podcast that invites actors, composers and cast members — anyone who has ever worked for the Walt Disney Company or its subsidiaries — to talk about working in various Disney projects.

Tuckey does everything for the show. She decides who to interview and reaches out to his or her agent. If she gets the green light, the tedious task of researching her interviewee begins. The interview often takes about an hour, and editing can take an entire day. After that comes the three-hour upload, and then the episode is available for her 2,000 fans.

“Disney has asked me to have certain people on my show, and I feel like there will be one interview that will put us on the map and have people coming back,” she said.

Tuckey has done 64 interviews for “The Tiara Talk Show,” and has no plans to slow down. In fact, Ephault would like to see her expand the show and incorporate her singing, writing and acting abilities.

“She makes the interviewees comfortable,” Ephault said. “She really gets to their feelings and experiences, which is why people listen to her channel. She form relationships quickly with those she interviews, and she elicits appropriate responses. That’s a unique skill set. “

“Tammy represents the promise and innate ability of many students at ESU. I have been very pleased to meet other individuals like Tammy. These are the type of students who will be leading our future.”

Tuckey recently published her first music video. To listen to the podcast or for more information visit www.thetiaratalkshow.com.
