The East Stroudsburg University (ESU) Office of Workforce Development and the ESU Foundation are sponsoring the workshop Computer Security for the Law Firm on Friday, January 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Innovation Center. The workshop will address the computer security challenges legal practitioners face including server hacks, anti-malware software, privacy and the web, cookie/session stealing and session hijacking, encryption to protect privacy, biometrics, and the software engineering code of ethics and professional practice. The workshop is approved by the Pennsylvania Legal Education Board for 2.5 continuing legal education credits.
ESU is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education as deemed by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The workshop will be facilitated by ESU professors Christine Hofmeister, Ph.D., chair and professor of computer science/computer security, Michael Jochen, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science/computer security and Christopher Brooks, Dr. phil., associate professor of history and pre-law adviser.
“This workshop supports ESU’s efforts to identify opportunities to provide professional development programs for business and industry,” said Sharone Glasco, director of workforce development.
The workshop was designed in collaboration with the Monroe County Bar Association to address computer security challenges in the legal industry. “Workshops like this aid in fostering a stronger relationship with our legal community and will assist us in developing opportunities for our students who are preparing for law school,” Dr. Brooks said.
The cost to attend this workshop is $200 and advance registration is required. Proceeds will benefit prospective ESU law school candidates. To register, visit www.esu.edu/professionaldevelopment.
