Global Entrepreneurship Week to be Celebrated in Monroe County for First Time

Global Entrepreneurship Week will be celebrated for the first time in Monroe County, Pa. from November 18-24, 2019. The week-long celebration is sponsored by Startup Pocono in collaboration with the Monroe 2030 Action Team and East Stroudsburg University. This dedicated group of community, business and education leaders have designed a series of workshops and activities focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.
The worldwide Global Entrepreneurship Week celebration includes trailblazers who dream big and launch companies that can change their community and the world around them. Each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week reaches millions of different people across the globe through startup competitions, captivating workshops and small community panels. The week is focused on providing entrepreneurs with the skills and networks they need to succeed.
Global Entrepreneurship Week Monroe County Event Schedule:
The Global Entrepreneurship Week Opening Reception will be held on Monday, November 18 from 6-8 p.m. at East Stroudsburg University’s Innovation Center. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Club D. Refreshments will be provided by local businesses, The Renegade Winery, ShawneeCraft Brewing Company and Silverback Distillery.
Graphic Design and Marketing for Small Business: Tuesday, November 19 from 9-11 a.m., ESU Innovation Center, Room 154. Jesse Messenger, graphic designer/web developer at Attractive.Media, will facilitate a hands on workshop that will allow participants to create an advertisement from start to finish.
The ESU President’s Distinguished Entrepreneur Speaker Series will feature Women Who Distill on Tuesday, November 19 at 7 p.m. in the Beers Lecture Hall on ESU’s campus. Christine Riggleman, CEO and master distiller of Silverback Distillery, along with her daughters Lauren Riggleman, assistant distiller & general manager, and Abby Riggleman, general manager for Silverback’s Poconos location and the media director for the company, will be the featured speakers.
Entrepreneurial Finance Workshop: Wednesday, November 20 from 9-11 a.m., in Keystone Hall at Northampton Community College – Monroe Campus. Cody Batzel, financial planner, will discuss models for financing small businesses and early stage-companies.
Community Night: The Future According to Generation Z will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Sherman Showcase, 522 Main Street, Stroudsburg. A diverse panel of students will share their insights and answer questions about hiring, selling, and marketing to the Generation Z employee, consumer and customer.
A Mindfulness Session will be held on Thursday, November 21 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Arsha Vidya Retreat Center, Saylorsburg. The session, which includes complimentary lunch, will provide a unique opportunity to learn and experience the skills of mindfulness that lead to a deeper understanding of the needs of self.
A Coding Summit will be held on Thursday, November 21 from 5-7 p.m. at the ESU Innovation Center, Room 154. The introductory seminar will introduce participants to the world of web development.
The Monroe County Maker Space Workshop will be held on Friday, November 22 from 9 a.m. – noon at Northampton Community College – Monroe Campus in Kapp Hall. The workshop will provide the opportunity to use technology and brain-based learning techniques to further develop critical thinking and communication skills.
The Entrepreneur Boot Camp is scheduled for Friday, November 22 at ESU’s Innovation Center Room 336 from 6-10 p.m. and Saturday, November 23, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Chris Paradysz, founder of PMX Agency, will cover the power of creativity, the problem-solving flow, activating demand, and many other valuable topics to help entrepreneurs succeed. Please note that this is a competitive application, only the top 20 businesses that apply will be selected.
Global Entrepreneurship Week will close with the Innovation Celebration on Saturday, November 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Mount Airy Casino Resort. This event will showcase the up-and-coming startup
businesses that participated in the Entrepreneur Boot Camp.
