ESU’s Dance Company to Present Fall Performance – Debuts at 7:00 PM, November 21 and at 2:00 PM, November 22 at the Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts. This semi-annual performance will throw the spotlight on the talents of students, faculty members and guest artists. A variety of choreographic styles and dance pieces will include contemporary, modern, jazz and tap. Saturday’s performance will include the children from the Community Dance Program, under the direction of guest artist Jessica Batha. Tickets are available for purchase at http://quantum. esu.edu/dance/. Additionally, tickets will be sold at the door prior to each performance. Seeking Donations to Benefit Local Agencies and Schools! Students from the Foundations of Social Work Practice class are collecting non-perishable food items to benefit local community agencies assisting families living in shelters. Items that appeal to children are in particular demand such as paper products and toiletries Additionally, school supplies and children’s books are being collected on behalf of a local elementary school. Collection bins will be placed in the University Center Commuter Lounge, Residence Halls, University Bookstore, and Stroud 101 from Friday, November 14 to Tuesday, December 3. Celebrate the Holidays at ESU! Please join President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., and your friends and colleagues as we celebrate the winter season with the following events, open to all:

  • December 1 – Giant Holiday Card Signing from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the University Center Patio (near the entrance to the Keystone Room). Holiday on the Circle from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts (Front Circle of Campus).
  • December 5 – President’s Holiday Dinner with Faculty and Staff at 6:00 PM, in the Keystone Room. Cost per person is $25. To make a reservation, visit esu.edu/holidaydinner by December 1.
  • December 10 – Faculty and Staff Holiday Social from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, in the Keystone Room. Register by December 4 for the social at www.esu.edu/holidaysocial.

ESU’s McMunn Planetarium Hosting Double Feature Sky Show, at 7:00 PM and Second Show at 8:00 PM, Friday, December 5 in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center. “Long Winter Nights” explores the sights of the local evening skies during this time of year while “Passport to the Universe” explains the location of our planet and solar system in the vast cosmos. The program is open to the general public. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12 or seniors over 60. Tickets are available now at http://quantumnew.esu.edu/museum/?page_id=23. No tickets are available at the door. Programs are suitable for children but be advised that the planetarium will be quite dark during the sky show and feature show. The planetarium can also be reserved for group programs catering to all ages. Special group rates are available. To inquire about group programs call 570-422-2747 or email emooney2@esu.edu. 5 K Jingle Bell Walk/Run Event at 9:00 AM, Saturday, December 6 in Front of Zimbar Building. Sign-in begins at 8:30 AM in the lobby of Zimbar. Participation fee is $20 with dri-fi t-shirt or $10 without shirt. All proceeds will benefit the student PDS Scholarship Fund.
