ESU Students Inducted into Psi Chi, International Honor Society in Psychology

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s psychology department inducted eight undergraduate students into the ESU chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, on December 2, 2014 in the Niedbala Auditorium of the Hoeffner Science and Technology Center.
According to the Psi Chi mission statement, their purpose is to promote excellence in scholarship and to advance the science of psychology. It is the largest student psychological organization in the world, having over 600,000 members.
The ESU chapter of Psi Chi was founded in 1980. “Since then it has sponsored many educational, charitable, and civic programs, which are of value to the professional discipline as well as to the local community,” Renee Boburka, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, said.
Undergraduate students inducted were: Bridget Arrow, a senior nursing major from Doylestown, Pa; Casey Ciaston, a senior psychology major from Florham Park, N.J.; Yvonne Gonzales, a senior psychology major from Philadelphia, Pa; Molly Keck, a senior psychology major from Barnesville, Pa; Caitlin McDermott, a senior psychology major from Kunkletown, Pa; Tara Morcom, a senior psychology major from Jermyn, Pa; Ashley Smith, a senior psychology major from Shohola, Pa; and Alice Spina, a junior psychology major from Saylorsburg, Pa.
