Department of Theatre to Present Spring Jazz Concert

East Stroudsburg University’s Jazz Ensemble will note the 50th anniversary of saxophonist John Coltrane’s death at its spring concert Wednesday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of the Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite Streets, East Stroudsburg.

Coltrane, a pioneer in the free jazz movement, is still considered to be one of the most innovative and influential saxophonists of all time. The program will feature three pieces that are associated with Coltrane: My Favorite Things, So What, and Bye, Bye Blackbird, as well as other works from the standard jazz repertoire.
