East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, an intellectual experience that promotes dialogue among ESU faculty, staff, students, and community, continues the Fall 2022 semester with a presentation by David Mazure, professor of art + design. The presentation, “How I Made a Game”, will take place on Wednesday, October 19, at 5:30 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall. The presentation will also be live streamed on the ESU Live Events webpage.
Mazure will share the ins-and-outs of the creative process of developing a card game from scratch, as well as what he learned by starting his own small business. The presentation will cover a broad range of topics including entrepreneurship, board games, biology, graphic design & illustration, online marketing and international manufacturing.
“Creating a game and perfecting it is just the tip of the iceberg,” Mazure said. “What is truly involved in creating and selling a game is astounding. I relied on the skills of my very talented design students and alumni every step of the way. I am amazed at what I have learned through this process and I look forward to sharing my journey.”
Upon culmination of the talk the audience with be provided several prototypes of the game to beta-test at their leisure in Beers Lecture Hall. Mazure will gather feedback from the audience on how to broaden the scope of his card game. As a ramp-up to the launch of his Kickstarter campaign, Mazure has promised attendees a chance at winning one of several give-aways.
