ESU Receives Initial Payment from Garrett Hewitt International

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania announced the launch of LYME-AID, a tick testing kit that will soon be available in stores across the country, during its Council of Trustees meeting on Thursday, September 13.

The announcement also marked the first commercial licensing agreement of faculty/student research at ESU and within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).

LYME-AID was developed by ESU graduate Melissa Shaw and Distinguished Professor of Biology Dr. Jane Huffman based on Shaw’s graduate research. The Lyme-Aid Business Plan won first place in the ESU Student Business Plan Competition.

LYME-AID, a diagnostic tick testing kit that determines whether a tick is a carrier of Lyme disease, is expected to go on the market in October. Pictured here is the first check presentation to ESU relative to its licensing agreement with Garrett Hewitt International, LLC.
