ESU Presents Panel Discussion on America’s Policies and Engagements in the Middle East

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) will hold a panel discussion on Tuesday, September 24, drawing on the knowledge of experts in different aspects of the Middle East to provide their perspective on the events in Syria. The discussion is designed to engage students and both the campus and local communities in a dialogue about this sensitive and timely topic. The event is open to the general public at no cost and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Stroud Hall, Room 117.
Panelists will include: Sam E. Quainoo, Ph.D., professor of political science; S. Hooshang Pazaki, Ph.D., professor of sociology; Cem Zeytinoglu, Ph.D., associate professor of communication studies; and Erin O’Donnell, Ph.D., assistant professor of history.
Event coordinator Dr. Quainoo is a Mideast political expert who will moderate the discussion and provide the political context to the conflict. Dr. Pazaki is a native of Iran and will provide the sociological context. Dr. Zeytinoglu, a native of Turkey, will discuss political communications in the region, and Dr. O’Donnell, a Mideast historian, will provide the historical perspective.
Students and other attendees are welcome to ask questions and network with the professors after the program, which is being sponsored by ESU’s political science department.
