James Hunt, Ph.D., ESU associate professor of biological sciences and coordinator of the marine science program, will speak about the challenges, successes and failures of sustainable fishing on Friday, March 7, at 9 a.m. in Monroe Hall B01.
Hunt will address the importance of managing fishing resources and how new technologies, inefficient regulation, over-zealous industry practices and the way poor science have all contributed to the collapse of many fish stocks recently.
The presentation, which is open to the public at no cost, is a regularly scheduled lecture topic in his marine science class, which is offered at ESU this semester. For more information, contact Eugene Galperin, Ph.D., ESU assistant professor of mathematics and sustainability commission member, 570-422-3931 or egalperin@esu.edu.
