Theatre Students Set to Perform at Stroudsmoor Tree Lighting Celebration

More than 30 students from East Stroudsburg University’s student theatre organizations, Stage II and the Musical Theatre Organization (MTO), will be participating in the annual Tree Lighting ceremony at Stroudsmoor Country Inn on Sunday, December 4.

In addition to playing various characters and singing carols during the day-long festivities, the ESU students will be presenting the Living Nativity at 5:30 p.m. A complete list of the day’s events can be found at www.stroudsmoor.com under Events and Holidays; Tree Lighting Celebration.

East Stroudsburg University Political Science Students Visit Washington, D.C.

On Wednesday, November 16, Kimberly S. Adams, Ph.D., professor of political science, accompanied students from East Stroudsburg University’s political science club to Washington, D.C. Joining them on the trip were students from Dr. Adams’ graduate and undergraduate political communication classes. The trip served two purposes. It provided students the opportunity to interactively explore how digital and social media shaped the 2016 presidential election by visiting the Newseum’s exhibit “CNN Politics Campaign 2016: Like, Share, Elect.” They also visited the United States Capitol where they had guided tours of the Rotunda and Statuary Hall.

University/Community Band of East Stroudsburg University Sets Date for Winter Concert

East Stroudsburg University’s University/Community Concert Band will present a concert, “Winter Flourishes,” on Sunday, December 11 at 4 p.m. in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.

Selections by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sammy Nestico, and Leroy Anderson and others will be featured on the program. Vincent LoRusso, adjunct instructor of theatre, is director of the concert band.

Madelon Powers Gallery at ESU Extends Exhibit Cellblock Visions: “Set Free in the Petitionary”

The current exhibit at East Stroudsburg University’s Madelon Powers Gallery, Cellblock Visions: “Set Free in the Penitentiary,” has been extended through Wednesday, December 7.

The exhibit, a lively collection of artwork, created behind bars, from county jail to death row, had been scheduled to close on Tuesday, November 22. The gallery will be closed November 23-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

One of the first three in the world. It’s hard to imagine those odds, but at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) it’s a reality as the University’s G3 Design Lab celebrates its first semester as a Stratasys Super Lab, one of the first three in the world.

When Stratasys, a corporation that leads the world in 3D printers, launched the J750 3D printer in 2015, the company provided only three universities in the world with the new printer: East Stroudsburg University, Columbia University and New York University. This technology now provides ESU students with state-of-the-art experiences in the exciting field of additive manufacturing.

Provost’s Colloquium Series at ESU to Present Talk and Art Exhibit, Cellblock Visions: “Set Free in the Penitentiary”

As part of East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, Phyllis Kornfeld, art workshop facilitator and curator of the upcoming exhibit Cellblock Visions, “Set Free in the Penitentiary,” will discuss the exhibit Thursday, November 3 at 3 p.m. in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.

The talk will open an exhibition, which will feature paintings, drawings and objects created by men and women prisoners in six states and can be viewed in University’s Madelon Powers Gallery November 1-22.
